Semifinal Results

Oregon 41 Cincinnati 38

Oregon came out on top in a back and forth game that will go down as one of the great games in college history.

Cincinnati jumped out to a 14-0 in the first quarter behind the passing of Tony Pike. The Ducks struggled to get the offense going, but they came alive when LaMichael James broke a 70 yard touchdown run with three minutes left in the first quarter.

Cincinnati responded with a touchdown early in the second quarter to make it 21-7. The Ducks came roaring back with two touchdowns to tie the game at 21 at halftime.

The third quarter would be begin with both team exchanging punts before Jeremiah Masoli connected with Jeff Maehl on 31 yard touchdown pass. Cincinnati would tie it up when Pike hit Marty Gilyard on a 17 yard touchdown pass.

In the fourth the Bearcats regained the lead with Issiah Pead run. Oregon would march down the field and tie the game with six minutes left. The Bearcats would regain lead with just 1:45 left on a 36 yard Jake Rogers field goal, but Oregon was not done. Masoli led the ducks down the field on the games final play Masoli would find Ed Dickson in the corner of the Endzone for a 9 yard touchdown to win the game.

Alabama 31 TCU 17

The second game did not contain drama of the first. Alabama jumped out to an early 7-0 and cruised from there. Mark Ingram shredded the Horned Frog's defense for 178 yards. TCU struggled all day to find its offense and the game was not as close as the final score indicated.


This sets the stage for an epic championship battle on New Years day between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Oregon Ducks.
